How'd it go???

The other characters in Ripley were clearly in love with Dickie's pen too. I loved John Malkovich's cameo, and the mirroring - "I'm an art dealer too." "Somehow, I knew." 😂

Yes someone would always comment on it when he used it. And thanks for asking Troy, it went great.

Deirdre,

I'm on the opposite coast so will miss the event. I feel like I need to visit LA to meet so many of my favorite writers IRL.

For me, the analogue to your grandfather's sigh was the smell of my grandfather's cigar. Which I remember as lovely and intoxicating.

I would love that and I am trying to set something up in Brooklyn so I will keep you posted. And cigars! Yes, my great-grandfather smoked them as well, always had one in the side of his mouth!

Loved this line- sounds like a wonderful sigh: “Nothing better described the sound of not just disgust and disappointment and impatience, but the jangly, operatic combination of all three.” Wish I could go to the reading! Hope you get a great turnout!
